Overview
Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rosé 2015 in Gift Box
Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rosé 2015 is an exquisite blend of the sun-drenched 2015 vintage with the profound character of Pinot Noir red wine.
The cuvée is presented in its vibrant gift box designed in exclusivity by Paola Paronetto.
La Grande Dame 2015 Rosé is the essence of Madame Clicquot: the perfect expression of her force of character, her energy, her creativity and above all, her love of Pinot Noir."
Didier Mariotti, Cellar Master
Tasting Notes:
Veuve Clicquot's latest cuvée harmoniously blends the sun-filled 2015 vintage with the precision, depth, and character of Pinot Noir red wine.
Spice notes, such as pepper, nutmeg, and clove, intertwine with the delicate aromas of red fruit, as well as floral hints of rose and violet.
Winemaking:
La Grande Dame Rosé 2015 vintage, featuring a blend of 90% of Pinot Noir and 10% of Chardonnay, is blended with 13% Pinot Noir red wine from the historical parcel 'Clos Colin'.
Pinot Noir's unique, precise quality stands as the backbone of Veuve Clicquot champagnes. The versatility and freshness of Pinot Noir capture the essence of the Champagne region's unique terroir.
Dosage:
Brut - 6 g/L
Ageing Potential:
More than 15 years
Background Information:
La Grande Dame Rosé 2015 is a tribute to Madame Clicquot's pioneering spirit.
In 1818, she defied conventional practices by blending her red wine from her beloved 'Clos Colin' parcel with her white wine. Criticized at first, she is now acknowledged as the inventor of the first known blended rosé champagne.
The oldest plots of Veuve Clicquot in Bouzy, acquired in 1741 and expanded by Madame Clicquot, are the 1.3 hectare Parcel 'Clos Colin' we know today. Recent climate and soil research studies have confirmed Madame Clicquot's intuition that this plot is made-to-measure for Pinot Noir red still wine.
In terms of climate, it benefits from a "hot belt", offering intense light energy, which is necessary to push the ripening of the Pinot Noir
The soil is different from the classic chalky soil of Champagne. With a clay-limestone soil, more sand and coarse elements, it leads to a draining effect and a hydric stress for the vine. The result is rich grapes, which concentrate the vine energy, for an optimal development of the tannins.
For ageing rosé, the essential ingredient that guarantees both the colour stability and the texture evolution is the tannins from the grapes, especially the seeds. Macerated at least seven days, these tannins play an essential role in the ability of the champagne to age and become more complex over time.
