Reviews:
96/100
Antonio Galloni, VINOUS - May 2022
"The 2014 Argonne is the most delicate, nuanced and sculpted version of this Champagne yet. Then again, this cool, late-ripening year yielded wines more of energy and understatement than of power. That's exactly what comes through here. Lemon confit, mint, spice, pastry and a kiss of French oak are all beautifully knit together. I won't be at all surprised if 2014 gains body in time. Today, it is so evocative and beautiful, not to mention a fine effort in a very challenging year.
"If you love the wines of Salon, Selosse, Krug, Egly and other mighty Houses, then you will adore the intense fanfare of flavours that accompanies a bottle of Henri Giraud Champagne."
- Matthew Jukes
"Giraud makes some of the most unique, individualistic wines in Champagne. All of the wines bear the unmistakable stamp of the Grand Cru vineyards of Ay. At their best, the Giraud Champagnes offer incredible intensity, class and balance."
- Robert Parker
Background Information:
Henri Giraud was established in Aÿ in 1625. Grapes are grown on the chalky slopes of the Montagne de Reims where the House's long-standing respect for the terroir and organic viticulture mean that their vineyards have zero residue of herbicide and pesticide.
Base wines are vinified in Argonne Oak bringing unrivalled richness and depth of flavour.
Reserve wines date back to the 1990s from Henri Giraud's own version of the solera, their unique "perpetual reserve" is used to add character and dimension.
