Pommery Cuvee Louise 2002 75cl
New Release. Price £150.00.
Created as a tribute to Louise Pommery, Cuvée Louise is an absolutely pure wine which quintessentially conveys the wine-making expertise of the Pommery Champagne house.
A mere glance at this very glass gives a sense of the wine’s delicacy, so subtle is its colour, with its shades of yellow interspersed with brilliant green reflections – a distinguished backdrop to its effervescence. Its bubbles rise to the surface like a stream of diamonds which on reaching the surface vanish as if by magic to make way for others just pleading for the chance to display their beauty.
Put this glass under your nose and you will enter into communion with this wine, and with every one of its magnificent life experiences. It offers everything you might hope for in terms of aromatic delicacy. Its perfect minerality makes it a noble wine of real integrity. This minerality is accompanied by citrusy notes of lemon and grapefruit, enhanced by a gentle touch of glorious white peach. This showcases delicate small red fruits such as redcurrant which leave a fresh and delicate sensation of fruit.
On the palate, everything that was promised on the nose is delivered in no small measure giving this wine an appealing elegance which is hard to let go, as it captivates you in its enchanting spell. It is the very epitome of sensuality and natural elegance, devoid of all frills, straight as a die.
Let us give in to temptation, as the journey makes this more than worthwhile.
The listed and sign-posted Cuvée Louise estates receive regular attention throughout the year. The Avize and Cramant Chardonnay grape and Ay Pinot Noir grape have particularly high sugar content.

Respecting the Wine’s Character:
Finally, a dosage is added. This dosage comprises Avize vintages to fully preserve the wine’s character. Pommery ensures that each bottle of Cuvée Louise is stored in a cellar for a further six months to restore the champagne’s natural balance.
Background Information :
Madame Pommery created the first successfully marketed Brut Champagne ‘Pommery Nature 1874’ at a time when most Champagnes were excessively sweetened by sugar. This set the benchmark for the rest of Champagne and it is in this spirit that the style of Pommery endures; with each unique cuvée displaying elegance, finesse and true class.
