    Rare and extraordinary Vintages

    Palmer & Co is one of the very rare champagne houses to have an impressive collection of rare vintages, such as 1989, 1987, 1985, 1979 and 1976. These precious bottles are stored "sur pointe" in the chalky cradle of our cellars.

    The very long maturing period of these exceptional wines confers on them a rare degree of complexity and richness while at the same time preserving their remarkable freshness.

    Vintage Collection wines are all 100% Grand and Premier Grand Crus vineyards in the Montagne de Reims.  

    Tasting Notes:
    This exquisite Vintage Champagne 1976 presents itself with a captivating eye of dark amber, enticing the senses.

    On the nose, it offers a balsamic register intertwined with hints of forest floor, subtly mentholated. A touch of indulgence emerges on the palate, unveiling notes of nougatine alongside delicate orange blossom and coconut accents. The palate experience is powerful and rich, featuring peaty and iodized notes. A distinctive infusion of truffle adds complexity, culminating in a finish with a lingering mineral touch.

    Weather Conditions:
    The 1976 Champagne harvest was influenced by contrasting weather conditions, with a very hot, dry summer followed by heavy rain in September. 

    Despite these challenges, the harvest was relatively small. The grapes harvested were in perfect health, with excellent ripeness.

    50% Chardonnay
    50% Pinot Noir
