Mumm Grand Cru
Limited Stocks Available. Mumm Grand Cru has now been discontinued in the UK.
Tasting Notes:
A clear, lively yellow colour with golden nuances overflows with fine bubbles. First, the bouquet reveals a broad aromatic palate of fresh, tart fragrances, reminiscent of candied citrus such as mandarin orange and lemon along with notes of honey. Further aromas of white flowers of wild hawthorn, acacia as well as vanilla, and fleshy white fruits follow. As it warms up, subtle touches of lightly toasted nuts are also evident.
From the entry, its power overwhelms the palate. A fresh sensation combines with soft, fine and harmonious flavours that reflect the bouquet. The mouth-filling mousse gives the wine a feeling of opulence leading to a remarkable, long, delicate finish.
Grape Variety:
58% Pinot Noir, 42% Chardonnay
Technical Characteristics:
Dosage - 6 g/l
Ageing - minimum of 3 years
Background Information:
Since it was first established in 1827, the House of G.H. MUMM strived to control the quality of its raw materials, seeking “only the best” as Georges Hermann Mumm was often heard to say.
The Mumm Grand Cru assemblage is a delicate balancing exercise designed to respect the individual personalities of each of the five Grands Crus in the blend: Verzenay, Bouzy, Aÿ, Avize and Cramant. Compared to the “symphony” of 77 different crus that makes up Mumm Cordon Rouge, it is a “string quintet” that retains and enhances the distinctive characteristics of each terroir, creating a harmony of flavours and aromas that reflects the House style: a subtle balance of freshness and power.
