Louis Roederer Brut Vintage 2005

Iridescent yellow colour with slightly amber highlights.

Lively bubbles, with a creamy‚ flow.

An intense bouquet developing spicy and sweet aromas (cedar, cigar box) combined with juicy ripe fruit (yellow peach) and chocolaty hints. Almost overwhelmingly, the nose reveals all the riches of «roast» fruit, concentrated and browned in the sun of 2005.

The mouth is round and gentle, both rich and dense, with an unctuous, fruity texture. the ripeness of the fruit is clear; syrupy and penetrating. You find yourself suddenly translated into superb gardens, strolling amid a riot of scented ‚flowers, divinely refreshed by firm, strong, mineral acidity.

This 2005 Vintage Brut, with its perfect balance between concentration and freshness, softness and minerality, displays quite rare elegance and raciness, accompanied by avery long-lasting finish – promising fine years of ageing. Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon.

Grape Variety:

70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 30% of the wine is matured in oak casks with weekly batonnage. No malolactic fermentation.

Vintage Brut is matured for at least 4 years in the cellars and rested for 6 months after disgorgement to finish it perfectly.

Dosage of between 8 and 10 g/l is adapted to each vintage.

Pairing with food:

Pasta or rice with a porcini and Parmesan cream and veal sweet meats. Albufera chicken.

Background Information:

Fascinated by the diversity of aromatic expression of the Pinot noir grape in Champagne, Louis Roederer decided to elaborate his Vintage Brut on the structure and power of the Pinot noirs of the Montagne de Reims, where the north-northeast facing vines are slower to ripen and give often rough and closed wines at the start of maturation, the personality of which becomes remarkably more refi ned and intense under the eff ects of oak barrels and time. In 1850, he decided to buy more than 15 has of prime Verzenay vineyards so as to control the combination of the grapes for this wine.
