True to its principles, Lanson selected Chardonnays from Avize, Cramant, Chouilly and Le Mesnil Sur Oger, and Pinot Noirs from Verzenay, Verzy and Bouzy to make its 1995 Vintage. With 47% white grands crus and 53% Pinot Noir, the Lanson 1995 has the typicity and qualities that will delight the House's connoisseurs.
Pale gold with a lemony touch. Amazingly fresh and floral nose. Beautiful flavours and the acidity sings through giving a lovely impression of top Grand Cru wine, with Chardonnay staying longer on the palate. Less evolved than the bottle.
Drink up to 2012. (Decanter - 18.5 points)
(Disgorged June 1999. Dosage 12 g/l)
Background Information:
Lanson's Vintage Champagnes come essentially from Grand Cru vineyards - Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil and Oger for Chardonnay and Ay, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Mailly, Verzenay and Verzy for Pinot Noir - with an average over the 21 year spread (1976-1996) of 52%-48% in favour of Pinot Noir, with the exception of 1982 which was 60%-40%.
The date of disgorgement and the level of 'dosage' is noted against the wines.
